Accreditation Revoked of Two Area Businesses

The Better Business Bureau in Southeast Texas has revoked the BBB Accreditation of two businesses.  The revocations were approved by the BBB Board of Directors at their October meeting.

The BBB Accreditation of Holden Roofing Inc. of Richmond and Mr. Carpet of Beaumont was revoked due to their failure to comply with Code of Business Practices Standards for BBB Accreditation.

Holden Roofing Inc. failed to comply with BBB Code of Business Practices #1D which states an Accredited Business must establish and maintain a positive track record in the marketplace and be free of an unsatisfactory rating and maintain at least a B rating at the accrediting BBB and the BBB where it is headquartered.

Mr. Carpet failed to comply with BBB Code of Business Practices #2E and #6A resulting in revocation.  Code #2E states an Accredited Business must adhere to established standards of advertising and selling using the BBB logo in accordance with BBB policy.  Additionally, code #6A requires that an Accredited Business address marketplace disputes quickly, professionally, and in good faith by promptly responding to all complaints forwarded by the BBB by: (1) Resolving the complaint directly with the complainant and notifying the BBB, or (2) Providing the BBB with a response that the BBB determines: is professional, addresses all of the issues raised by the complainant, includes appropriate evidence and documents supporting the business' position, and explains why any relief sought by the complainant cannot or should not be granted.

Per the Better Business Bureau by-laws, Mr. Carpet will have 30 days upon notification to appeal the decision to the Board Chairperson for review by the Board of Directors. However, Holden Roofing Inc. has been revoked by the Houston BBB where they are headquartered; therefore, cannot appeal to the BBB in Southeast Texas.

“Businesses who apply for BBB Accreditation must meet the eight standards in the BBB Code of Business Practices, and they must maintain those standards to continue their BBB Accreditation,” states BBB President/CEO Michael Clayton.
