The Better Business Bureau of Southeast Texas is proud to announce that our eleventh “Shred It & Forget It!” set a new all-time record! 467 vehicles were served and over 46,000 pounds of shredded documents were collected in three hours! For eleven events, this puts the BBB in Southeast Texas at a grand total of 3711 vehicles served and 277,000 pounds collected!
The event, which was held on Saturday, September 10, 2011, on the Parkdale Mall parking lot, was an effort to reduce identity theft. The BBB thanks Shred-It, MCT Credit Union, Bill Clark Pest Control, Beaumont Coca-Cola, Chick-fil-A—Parkdale Mall, West Brook High School Key Club, Legacy Christian Academy Key Club, Lamar University’s Rotaract, Clear Channel Radio, and Parkdale Mall for their help in making this event possible.
”Shred It & Forget It!” will be available to consumers in Southeast Texas twice a year; Central Mall in the spring and Parkdale Mall in the fall. The BBB continues to stress the importance to shred your confidential documents; when improperly disposed of, it can lead to identity theft.
