The winners of the 2013 Outstanding BBB Awards were presented with their awards at the 2013 International Assembly of BBB’s held in Austin Texas at the end of September. The BBB of Southeast Texas was pleased to receive four of these coveted awards, second only to the host BBB, BBB of Austin who received 5 awards!
Outstanding BBB Awards
***Single Case Investigation - BBB|Beaumont, TX
Awarded for the BBB’s work in conjunction with the Syam Tax Services scam, which targeted citizens in Southeast Texas who received Social Security Disability benefits with the promise of a tax refund from the IRS for which the consumers were actually not eligible. The BBB worked with various local, state, and federal agencies to assist consumers and assisted the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District Court and the Texas Attorney General’s Office, which ultimately led to a Government Action filed against the company. Only one award was given in this category among the 40 BBB’s with fewer than 2000 Accredited Businesses.
***Operation Award: Category A - BBB|Beaumont, TX
This award was given for operational excellence and encompassed several statistical categories including Complaint Settlement Rate, Average Days to Open Complaints, Average Days to Close Complaints, and Percentage of Complaints Processed. Only one award was given in this category among the 40 BBB’s with fewer than 2000 Accredited Businesses.
