The Better Business Bureau of Southeast Texas is proud to announce that our 15th ”Shred It & Forget It!” was another huge success! Over 460 vehicles were served and over 15,000 pounds of shredded documents were collected in three hours! For 15 events, this puts the BBB in Southeast Texas at a grand total of 5479 vehicles served and 411,000 pounds collected!
The event, which was held on Saturday, September 28, 2013, at Kaplan College in Beaumont, was an effort to reduce identity theft. The BBB thanks Shred-It, MCT Credit Union, Bill Clark Pest Control, Star Graphics, Chick-fil-A—Parkdale Mall, Wal-Mart Beaumont, Lamar University’s Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Rotaract of Lamar Univeristy, Rotaract of Beaumont, West Brook High School Key Club, Clear Channel Radio, and Kaplan College for their help in making this event possible.
”Shred It & Forget It!” will be available to consumers in Southeast Texas twice a year, in the spring in Port Arthur and the fall in Beaumont. The BBB continues to stress the importance of shredding your confidential documents; when improperly disposed of, they can lead to identity theft.
