The Better Business Bureau of Southeast Texas is proud to announce that our 14th ”Shred It & Forget It!” was another huge success! A new record was set with 477 vehicles being served and over 40,000 pounds of shredded documents collected in three hours! For 14 events, this puts the BBB in Southeast Texas at a grand total of 5019 vehicles served and 396,000 pounds collected!
The event, which was held on Saturday, April 20, 2103, at Central Mall in Port Arthur, was an effort to reduce identity theft. The BBB thanks Shred-It, MCT Credit Union, Bill Clark Pest Control, Star Graphics, Clear Channel Radio, Beaumont Coca-Cola, Chick-fil-A—Port Arthur, Lamar University’s Rotaract, The Rotaract Club of Beaumont, Lamar State College Port Arthur, and Central Mall for their help in making this event possible.
”Shred It & Forget It!” will be available to consumers in Southeast Texas twice a year, in the spring in Port Arthur and coming this fall to Kaplan College in Beaumont on September 28, 2013. The BBB continues to stress the importance of shredding your confidential documents; when improperly disposed of, they can lead to identity theft.
