There are 13 businesses that have been BBB Accredited with us since 1963.  As the Better Business Bureau celebrates 50 years of serving Southeast Texas in 2013, we will feature one of our charter Accredited Businesses each month in the e-Torch Report.

Bill Clark is among five children born and raised on a 50 acre farm in East Texas. He served our great country in the U.S. Navy and was part of the Korean Conflict. After his years of service, he entered Texas A&M University using the G.I. Bill.  Mr. Clark had three simultaneous jobs one of which was a summer job working for Don Stroope in Waxahachie, TX performing pest and termite services and inspections of cotton fields.  This allowed him to fund his education in Entomology where he then graduated in January of 1957. 

Upon graduation and after much research he chose Beaumont, Texas to open a pest control business.  He is often heard saying that he would wear his “Sales Shirt” in the morning and change into a “Service Uniform” in the afternoon to perform the service.

So, it all began in 1957, and to date Bill Clark Pest Control, Inc. has grown to be one of the largest and most respected pest control companies in the area and one of the largest independently owned pest control companies in the state.

During its 56 year history the company has had one owner Bill L. Clark, Entomologist, who still remains the President and General Manager. His staff consists of nearly 60 highly trained “Bugsperts” with an accumulative total of over 600 years experience with the company.  

Bill Clark was instrumental in the early years of running the Better Business Bureau in Southeast Texas.  He was present at the first meeting of the Board of Directors in May of 1964.  In December of that year, he expressed his belief in the Bureau and stated that he felt it to be the duty of all members of the Bureau to keep it operating, which was agreed to by those Directors present.  As Board Chair in 1966, there were times that the BBB phone lines were transferred to Clark's phone so HE could help consumers.  

Clark is married to his lovely wife Casey Clark; they have 5 children, six grand children and one great grandchild.
