What is TOGGLE 2.0?

toggle

The mission of the BBB is to be promote ethics in the marketplace by being the leader in advancing marketplace trust.

To achieve that in the long-term, our vision is to help develop the next generation of educated and ethical consumers and business leaders.

This will be accomplished through TOGGLE 2.0, a dual-focused outreach plan connecting students, business leaders, and the BBB through the Laws of Life Essay Contest and the interactive video program, In Pursuit of Ethics.

The Laws of Life Essay Contest challenges local middle school students in the BBB service area to identify one or more "laws of life" that mean the most to them and explain those laws through experiences they have had, lessons learned, and the people who have served as living examples through personal narrative essays.  This program was launched in 2011 with a number of schools participating throughout the area.  The inaugural banquet honoring the first group of winners, parents and teachers was held on October 2, 2012 at the Holiday Inn & Suites Beaumont Plaza.  Planning for the 2013 event is currently underway with the banquet to be held on April 16.  Nissan of Silsbee, DuPont Goodrich Federal Credit Union, Conn's, and Previty - Clinic for Surgical Care/Garrett K. Peel, MD have already signed on as Visionary sponsors.

In Pursuit of Ethics was developed to create in-depth discussion and critical thinking about ethical issues in an interactive group setting.  Real life situations are presented in an entertaining way in which the audience makes the decision and selects the direction of the program.  All ethical decisions have consequences...and they aren't always predictable.  This program confronts audiences with real life situations that challenge the group to use critical thinking skills while they wrestle with ethical decisions and the impact of those decisions.  This program has already been presnted to over 1000 students in Jasper, Kirbyville, Vidor, Orangefield, and Beaumont schools.

This program is open to area schools and businesses.  If you would like to be involved as a volunteer and/or sponsor of TOGGLE 2.0, please contact Michelle Brewer at 409/835-5951 x102.
