The Better Business Bureau of Southeast Texas is proud to announce that our thirteenth ”Shred It & Forget It!” was another huge success! A new record was set with over 450 vehicles being served and over 40,000 pounds of shredded documents collected in three hours! For 13 events, this puts the BBB in Southeast Texas at a grand total of 4542 vehicles served and 356,000 pounds collected!
The event, which was held on Saturday, September 15, 2012, at Kaplan College in Beaumont, was an effort to reduce identity theft. The BBB thanks Shred-It, MCT Credit Union, Bill Clark Pest Control, Star Graphics, Beaumont Coca-Cola, Chick-fil-A—Parkdale Mall, Lamar University’s Rotaract, Lamar University’s American Medical Student Association, West Brook High School Key Club, Clear Channel Radio, and Kaplan College for their help in making this event possible.
”Shred It & Forget It!” will be available to consumers in Southeast Texas twice a year, in the spring in Port Arthur and the fall in Beaumont. The BBB continues to stress the importance of shredding your confidential documents; when improperly disposed of, they can lead to identity theft.
