By Michael Clayton, President/CEO
Farewell . . . But, Not Good-Bye!
Fifteen years ago I was privileged to become the President/CEO of the Better Business Bureau that serves the great southeast Texas region. I have said often that when I arrived that I could not spell “BBB,” much less Better Business Bureau.
Over the years I have not only learned to spell BBB, but have come to love its mission, purpose, and most importantly, its people. The greatest BBB staff in North America serves in southeast Texas. The greatest Board of Directors of any BBB on the planet governs this regional office. The greatest businesses in America reside in this small corner of the great state of Texas. And, the greatest colleagues any man could desire are spread across this continent proclaiming the BBB message and upholding its banner of “advancing trust in the marketplace.”
December 30 I say farewell, but not good-bye. Yes, I will be “retire” from the BBB of Southeast Texas, but I will “retread” as the Ambassador for TRUST. My objective is to continue the message and the mission. What will be my manner of doing so? As a professional speaker, corporate trainer, business consultant, writer, and coach.
John Paschall will succeed me as the next head cheerleader of the BBB in southeast Texas. I know you will welcome him, support him, encourage him, and love him as you have me for the last 15 years! He comes already knowing how to spell BBB, and with the same passion and commitment to the BBB mission as I have.
I was honored 15 years ago when I adopted the BBB brand, and I’m still honored today. BBB is my extended family and southeast Texas has become my home. To both I say farewell, but not good-bye!
